About our Team
We are a team of two Yorkshire lads named James and Tom who have grown up in the Yorkshire dales, just outside of Masham.
Tom has drystone walling running through his veins, with his Grandfather being a waller all his life and Tom from a young age looking up to him and wanting to follow suit. From working in the building trade for a local company Tom developed his enthusiasm and interest for walling and decided it was time to pick up where his Grandfather left off.
I don’t quite have Toms historic ties to drystone but can match his enthusiasm for it! I begun my career in building by qualifying as a bricklayer but laying mostly stone whilst working on new build houses, extensions and other big projects. Whilst at college I entered into bricklaying competitions reaching national level and eventually winning the Guild of Bricklayers national senior final 2022. Whilst bricklaying is different to drystone it taught me precision and gave me an eye for detail. I fell in love with drystone due to its simplicity and unparalleled beauty. Here I am pictured at various competitions.
In addition to our background in the building trade we are also fully qualified with the Yorkshire Drystone Walling Guild and are currently working towards the coveted rank of ‘Master Waller’
We may be a small team but it allows us to focus properly on all our projects and we can promise our customers will always be our top priority.
We know we are also young but please don’t think we lack knowledge or skill, we’re both hard-working, committed people and our work shows this.
We also can’t forget to mention our mascot Peggy who follows us to all of our jobs ( somewhat reluctantly when it’s raining I admit ) she’s a 2 year old cocker spaniel who I think matches our passion for walling but mainly loves when we sit down for lunch!
